Lots of people do that when they're not really used to looking after fish. Especially as goldfish are so good at begging.:) If you've got a tank vac, the best thing to do would be to suck the excess up before it rots and plays havoc with your water quality.

i had to clean the whole thing out, fish are happyer now! haha :D

i agree whole-heartedly with Goldie!

even if you can try to get them with a net or something, but you do need to get that food out otherwise the tank will go all mucky too...

the goldfish that I used to have was always overfed when somebody else looked after them. The water turned green, but the fish still lived a long time. I think 15 years or so.....
Nowaydays, they have those blocks for vacations. Maybe that is better?:S:p
