 well hi all!!!
bluey and i are newbies here....
im rocky the owner of bluey! and im finding it hard to train her...
bluey is a female baby budige about 9 to 10 weeks old... she lives at my girlfriends house cause i'm always here... she lives in her own cage and there is another budgie named maxi which is a boy....
neways how the hexk do you train a female baby budgie!?!?
neways here a history of me::
im rocky, 19 years old.. i've loved birds like budgies and cockatiels all my life!! and now since i'm getting older i want to start to breed them. i have an aviary at my backyard with four birds.. two blue (male and female) and two greens (male and feamle)....
blue male: busty
blue female: sky
green male: cherps
green female: tweets
sky had a boyfriend named bruno and had kids... sadly only 1 made it which is bluey... this was sky's first batch of babies.. now bluey lives with my girlfriend cause im always there and i want it to be tame.
i will take photos of my batch of budgies at home next time and show you all.. bluey i'll upload soon...
newaiz.. can anyone give me tips on how to train young female budgie bluey?
thanks peace:budgie:
Welcome to the forums! You train a young female budgie exactly the same way you train any bird - with lots of love and patience. Talk to her heaps and see if you can get her eating treats (like millet) from your hand. Then see if you can bribe her onto your finger with a treat. That's how i would start anyway.

Hello Rocky,
Thank you so much for joining us at the Budgie Talk Forum. I would like to WELCOME you and encourage you to come back often. Please feel free to post any comments, questions, and photos you would like to share.
In answer to your question on training your female Budgie, I agree with Bea in that it is no different to train a female than a male or any other bird. You said that you have 4 other Budgies besides Bluey and I was just curious if they are tame or trained in any way?
If you have never checked out the rest of the forum, you may want to begin by going to the Talk Budgie Forum link that is at the top left side of the page and then look for a heading on the page that says: Training and Bonding. Click on that and it will open up the first page (of many) that gives you tips and direction on taming your Budgie. People on the forum are wonderful about sharing their knowledge of Budgies. Hopefully you'll soon be ready to share some of your stories and tips with us, too. :)
We are looking forward to seeing Bluey when you are able to post photos.
Have a great day!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've got quite the flock there!
I'd try working with your sweety several times a day for very short periods of time (like no more than 10 minutes at a time or so). That way they are less likely to get frustrated with you. Patience is always a good thing too!! :p

Welcome to the forum. Training a female is the same as training a male. Time and lots of patience. Reward good behavior and ignore bad behavior.

neways wen you all say that i gta spend time with her.. when shes in the cage or out of the cage.. cause shes kinda hard to get her attention when we let her free...
oh yerh and donna.. nahz my other 4 birds arent tamed at all.. they are outside birds... im used to keeping them outside because my parents don't like them to keep them in... but im happy.. i want to start to become a breeder. i built their cage... thinking of building a heaps bigger one once the 2 pairs have new babies...
bluey on the other hand was the only one who made it out of the clutch from sky... so i want her to live a more healthy and better life with my girlfriend... shes my first ever baby... hahaha...

Gorgeous birds! Be careful with that wire, a) spacing looks waaaaaay too big, i assure you a budgie could get out of that if they decided to and b) is it plastic wiring? Budgies can CHEW and they do.

That's quite the cage you built. I bet your Budgies love all of that room to play and fly. Are you going to tear this cage down when you build a bigger one? Or are you just going to fill them BOTH with Budgies? :D
You sound as though you are making progress taming one of your Budgies. That is wonderful. Isn't it a great feeling when they will stay on your hand? Keep up the good work.
