Hello!

Just joined yesterday. Doing a little reading about parakeets and ran into your website. I enjoyed all the information and cute pictures.

I noticed a lot of folks are asking questions about the gender of their birds. Some seem to be tricky, especially if the cere on the bird is pink or light purple. I am a beginner but here is what I thought I read:

pink cere is a male.

light purpleish cere is a female.

Do I have that backwards? I have my eye on a cute little parakeet at the pet store. Mainly white but with some blue. His/her cere is pink.

WELCOME txbirdfriend, Its hard to tell what gender when they are so young.
I have 3 new ones, one has a dark blue cere and hes older and I have 2 young ones with slight blue and pink, I will have to wait until they get older to find out.
