Well i now have my breeding cage down and right now Crumble and Romeo have been in for a week. I had Squeak and Crumble in but they were not bonding. My original plan when i got Romeo was to put him with Crumble but i actually had decided to put Willow and Romeo together. Willow is only nine months old and Romeo is the cage flirt. He has his eyes on Crumble(3yrs +),Willow( 9 months),Skilly(6 months) and to Ozzie dismay,Macadamia but of course Ozzie wont put up with that nonsense lol. So i have finally put him with Crumble to prevent underage breeding:(. 10 minutes after i put him in they were feeding eachn other already!!
Well enough of me talking lol here are some picts!!

When Wizard and Crumble were together i had 4 chicks and they all came out Violet and green like crumble :( Not one even looked like Wizard.
Questions
What colour chicks will they produce??
What colour is Crumble??
What colour is Romeo??
PS The white bird in my avatar is Wizard

Crumble is taking all the straw out of the nesting box and i have to keep stuffing it back in!! I am 90% sure that Romeo has been in the box because alot of the time i cant see both of them from the house

Romeo is a normal cobalt with violet
Crumble is a type 2 yellow face opaline (not sure if she is cobalt or sky blue violet)
I think both birds have a violet factor but it often doesn't show very well in photos. The violet is in addition to their other colours.
Because Crumble's mutation is a sex linked one Romeo will have to be carrying the gene before you will get opaline ckicks. If he is split for opaline half the chicks will be opaline
You should get at least two shades of blue (3 if Crumble is cobalt) in the chicks with single factor violet added in 50% of them and double factor violet added to 25% and no violet in the other 25%. The chicks will all be normals unless your birds are split for other mutations

I think I said that you will only get opalines if Romeo is carrying the gene.
Crumble doesn't look pale enough to be a dilute, but as dilute is recessive it won't make any difference to the breeding result

ok Thanks!! Would there be any chance that is Romeo is carrying the opaline gene that i might get a green opaline because Crumble has green in her??

If Romeo is carrying the opaline gene you would get opaline but not a proper green. The green that Crumble has comes from being type 2 yellow face blue, the yellow has spread into the blue making it greenish. The same thing could happen with the chicks

Oh no! Poor little crumble :(. I know just what it feels like to have a bird fly away and just hanging onto one by the slightest little chance. But there is still hope that she may return or you can find her! I don't know about where you are, but the weather here is going to be sunny and 29.

I have a a cage out. Its ok now but it happend this morning. A huge wind came and knocked it and i rushed out to see if they were ok and saw her flying out from under the pagola. Romeo was pretty shaken so i got him and brought him inside and i am about to take him to the vet as he has eaten since this morning:(

Aww....
Makes me worry about my cage now....its outside but it has survived very strong winds for 2 days straight...but you live up in the hills so you probably get even stronger winds...
I hope Crumble finds her way back to you somehow :(.
