what do I do my budgie just laid an egg ?

But don't get your hopes up too much! Well I don't know about budgies but my god mother has finches and her little bird laid an egg with a male inside the cage and it turned out bad. :(

Just give her more food and eggfood. This takes alot of energy from the female. The only way you can help is by giving her seeds, eggfood. Especially eggfood when the chicks are born( and ofcourse seeds, but then you must give her more eggfood). The first days the chicks mostly get eggfood from the mother.For now there isn't much that you can do except the food. The male feeds the female. Just make sure that they have enough.Remember, you'll need more food as the chicks are born and getting older.Please let us know when the egg hatched :)

Have you checked to see if the eggs are fertile? You can do this by candling them (hold them up to a flashlight in a very dark room; if you see blood vessels, it is fertile and if it looks empty, then it is not) ;)

If their eggs are fertile, the first egg will be hatched after 18 days its been laid and the rest to follow every other day.
