hi there everyone! im new to this budgie talk! i have 2 budgies, Jeri and Stormy. i got Jeri about 7 months ago, but i just got Stormy yesterday! he was so afraid of everything, but he's already seemed to calm down. i just started putting my hands in the cage this morning. i got too close at one point and he flew right out of the cage! during my chase he managed to land in a cup of vinegar by my window for trapping fruit flies attracted by the veggies i feed Jeri. i managed to catch him and gave him afew squirts with a spray bottle of water to rinse the stench of vinegar off. poor things all wet now but ive got him in a warm spot. i put my hand in the cage after that, and he wasnt afriad of me at all!! i even got him to perch on my finger for a little abit. im just glad he doesnt hate me for the vinegar incident!!

ANYWAYS....sorry i dont have any pictures right now. i dont have a digital camera, YET, i hope to get one for Christmas this year :) i do have a scanner, and ill try to snap some photos and get the developed asap! i know ill enjoy this board, budgies rock!

Welcome Amy, I have a new budgie too called Skyla and the same thing happened to me yesterday..well not a vinegar episode but she flew out of her cage and kept flying to the floor, really scary it was. And today I was trying to put her new mirror in her cage and the jingly bell sound made her go crazy she was flapping around her cage trying to get out again, so I like you feel really sorry for my new pet and hope she doesn't blame me.Just now she has made the first churp since I have had her which is only 2 days, she does step on my finger but is still really scared and she just jumps straight off again.xx

That's quite the story you shared about your new Budgie, Stormy. I'm glad things turned out fine and that she is okay. It sounds like she got over her fright pretty quickly to already be perching on your finger. You are fortunate to have her perch so soon after getting her.
