lol
im thinking of getting a small tree and maybe keeping it in the house as a perch for birdie.
ive read that budgies evolved with it down under and to this day still go mad for it, no matter what country they live in.
hope its true

i have a tree in the garden, and cut off pieces once a week. they LOVE it
i add some to the bird bath, and they bath in it, and then i also clip some on the side of the aviary, they realy enjoy the very tip of the leaf, i assume it has the most oil since that where they go for first, then proceed to preen!

THEY LOVE GUM TREE LEAVES! And Gum Tree Leaves contain eucalyptus oil! There's heaps of 'em in Australia but most are too high to get the leaves ou either have to wait for them too drop or find a small tree. My neighbors have a really small one so it's really handy!

I got a couple of leaves from the tree in the backyard but he didn't seem to take to it. I think because it hasn't seen it before. I wish i could just say in budgie 'just take one bite i'm sure you'll love it'!

no, none that i know of are toxic. they grow freely in australia, and the budgie fly free there, lol
i've also never seen any variety on a toxic list

Pulling leaves off the tree in my backyard they're often sticky. I'm assuming this would just be sap or something??
