Hello Sean,
Welcome to the forum. I hope that you enjoy yourself as you read and learn with the rest of us. I have been a member since June and so I am not very well versed in a lot of areas with Budgies. I do know though, that if the area above the beak (the cere) is purple/pink or blue, your Budgie is a male.
If the cere is beige/brown or white, you have a female. As I look at your photo, it is kind of difficult for me to see what color the cere actually is. From what I am told, it is usually not until the Budgie is 6 months old or older, that the actual color develops on your bird. So, it may be too soon to tell the sex right now.
As far as the age goes, I can't help you there. I have no idea how that is determined. I do know that as the lines disappear on the head, the Budgie is older. Pegasus looks as though most of his lines have vanished so he is at least a few months old. You said you have only had him a couple of months. Did you get him from a pet store? If so, he was probably at least a month old or maybe two when you got him. It's hard to say. Perhaps someone else on the forum can help you with the age determination. Or a vet could help you too. You might even try calling a vet and ask them how you can tell.
Sorry I haven't been much help. Have a great day, Sean.
Also, I think the name Pegasus is cute and unique. :D

i would say female, the cere looks pinkish, but a close up would help a lot. based on the lack of what looks like used to be "zebra stipes" on the head, i would say maybe 2 yrs, or more, but I'm really not sure....
very pretty, though!

You just have to keep talking to him and repeating things over and over to him..it does take a while and some budgies never ever talk...when hes on your finger have him close to your mouth that is how he will end up mimic your voice as they watch how your lip moves..I have heard the tapes work too and music helps..My Eddie is 6 mths old and he mumbles but doesnt say anything really clear..but I have Joey now too and this will maybe stop him talking altogether. check the web on tips to get him talking..good luck.
Welcome to TalkBudgies!:D First picture is definately a female.Beautiful Photograph by the way!Its awsome! The second I would say male because its blueish purple. They are both Pieds so its hard to tell teh age becuase the bars could just be there for ever. The female has a brown cere and is in breeding condition so I would say that she is a bit older becuase of this.;)
