Very cute! I have a quick question for you. We got our two finches a nest a little while ago, they have nested, but havnt laid any eggs yet. I was wondeirng about how long does it take them before they decide to lay?
No the yellow is not Rare...Its a Fawn I belive a "Fawn Pied" if not mistaken:
Fawn: The fawn mutation looks to be one of the oldest mutations. Fawn society finches are the lightest orangy-brown color of the three base colors, and this is because the mutation is supposed to change the black pigment (eumelanin) into phaeomelanin. Fawn is recessive to chocolate, and recessive to chestnut. In the picture at left you see a comparison of two differing shades of fawn, one crested pied (on the right) and one fawn self.
Fawns have nearly unpigmented beaks. Some fawns show a slight gray tinge to the beak, but ideally the beak should be as bright pink as possible.
Thats a young chick so remeber the colors are lighter than teh adult plumage:) Beautiful little chicks though!

Thanks Joey! Should I up the cost in adoption on the yellowish fawn, because they are harder to come across or not??? To answer Jackismacki question, I have two Zebra finches and they been making there nest for some time now, still no eggs. Aso for the Society finches they made a nest and messed around with it for about a week. Than they had eggs. So it just depends. I believe the zebra finches are having a harded time because, they have a open nest. I bought a closed in one. So I'll have to see if they take to it. I feel they need to feel secure in there nest (comfortable) before having eggs! The society finches do have a closed in nest.

Shannon thanks. Well I will just sit it out for a while and wait and see what they do. Hopefully they will lay soon..I know they like there nest well at least for sleeping in..lol. The second I put it in there they were so happy. Just wish they would get busy working on a family..haha.
