I have 2 birds, a cockatiel & a budgie. The CT is very sweet, shy, she is a bit older than the budgie. He is, to say the least, spunky. I started them off in seperate cages but they started sleeping together in a short time. I let them room together in the big cage. This was fine for almost 2 years. He is a bit aggressive but she could handle him. Lately, I have had to seperate them, he is being really aggressive to her. I have to let them out seperately, poor ct doesn't understand. The 1 difference is I haven't had him clipped for a while & I noticed the more he could fly the more "spunky" he became. He really thinks he is the boss. I wondered if maybe it was sexual maturity (the aggression). Does anyone have any ideas? I love him , brat or not but I feel sorry for her. Thanks, Lunita
p.s. anyone know why they bleep her name? Owners?:budgie:

Hello lunita777,
If I remember correctly, Cockatiels and Budgies should NOT be caged together. Thinking back on other members who have had both Cockatiels and Budgies, it seems I remember them saying that you should never house a Tiel and Budgie together because I think they said that Budgies are very aggressive with Tiels and can easily kill them.
My suggestion would be to let your birds out to play together, under supervision. When it comes to caging your sweeties, just place them in separate cages, but keep the cages near each other so the birds don't get lonely. By doing this, both your Tiel and Budgie will be safe, yet remain friends, and not harm each other.

I would seperate them, and just let them have "out of cage" time together, maybe it could be now that his wings are grown he feels more bosy, or maybe he is acting his age, but i would seperate them asap!:)

Thanks for your advice. I do have them in seperate cages but close. They love to out but only if I am at home. I never leave them free when I am not home. He definetly has become more aggressive the loner he has been able to fly, sassy with us as well. I plan to get him clipped again, he tones down pretty quick when he needs you. Regardless, I will cage them apart don't want to take any chances. I just feel sorry for ****** because she still likes him even though he has been so mean to her.
Thanks again...great site, interesting & informative. Lunita777

What is your bird's name? Spell it with a space between each letter and I'll try to see why it is happening.:)

Hi Lunita777,
I just now saw your post where you are asking me if I knew why your bird's name keeps getting bleeped out. I don't always get back to re-read each thread I've posted on, so forgive me for not responding to your question.
Pippin's Mom and I must have the same train of thought . . . I too, would have asked you to spell out your bird's name with a space between each letter. That way we can better evaluate what the problem is. Usually things don't get bleeped out unless it's an obscene word - so it does puzzle me as to why this keeps happening??? :S
Perhaps you can send a Private Message to I (or Pippin's Mom) or any of the staff of your choice, so we can better help you. The reason being, there might be a chance that we don't get back to this thread and if you send someone a Private Message, we won't overlook you.
Take care and I/We look forward to hearing back from you.

Perhaps create a nickname for your bird on the forums...
