What about pine wood?

The only readily available natural wood I can use for perching is pine. I've read that the sap, twigs and needles are poisonous, but other sources say that pine wood is absolutely fine... I'm so confused!
I also can't quite identify a whole lot of trees in my area. It's full of them, but I'd need a tree atlas or something to get everything situated.

pine wood is fine but the sap, needles are poisenous.
to clean them before giving them to the birds you'll need to bake them in the oven for i think 350F for 20 mins. thats really the only way to completly sterilize them
