i'm not exactly sure what you mean , backward sneeze? Fart? or when they sneeze they walk backwards?

if its when they sneeze they walk backwards- This i've wondered my self, but I have no clue but every single dog i've ever owned (and its been tons over the years) have done it.

and well if its farting - same reason as humans they get gas as well :P

oh you mean the inhaling like thing afterwards, I think it has something to do with how their noses are - how they're smooshed up they don't breath normally so after they sneeze it like takes their breath away

but I'm not 100% sure as i've never owned a pug.

You have me laughing so hard. ?:laughing:

But I think sometimes dogs do that because of allergies. Because my dogs have all done it and none have squished noses.

It's caused by a spasm of the soft palate/larynx area and the spasm is usually brought on by over-excitement, or some kind of irritant (such as dust) getting inhaled.

Any breed can "reverse sneeze" (all five of my pit bulls do it), but smaller breeds are more prone to do so.

The spasm passes pretty quickly and the dog usually goes right back to normal. When my guys start doing it, I immediately calm them down by petting them and talking softly to them. The more excited the dog gets, the longer the spasm lasts.

I have never heard of this, and I couldn't watch the video :(

I will watch tonight, because I can't get a mental picture with the description, it just reads wrong. :P

my dogs never do that.
but the small ones do some odd thing sorta like that but it has nothing to do with sneezing. they do it when they get excited and i cant stand it. they look so stupid "dancing" around (Teddyy lookks as if he's tap dancing when he does this thing) and making this wierd sound. ugh.

My dog does this too! It scared the heck out of me the first few times she did it. D: Then we noticed it normally happened when she ate anything with loose rice, and figured she just got some up her nose. :o

I have a pug beagle who does this too. Any can and it can sometimes be confused with kennel cough. There are certain bredds who are more prone to this and pug is definitely one of them. I can't remember the others.
