I'm thinking of getting a cockatiel, I've done a bit of research on them and they seem nice birds. Since I couldn't get a new budgie cage online I may buy the cockatiel and a new cage. :)
Can someone tell me their views or experience with them if you have or had them. :D
Thanks...

Hiya, they are lovely birds but I am not too sure how they are with budgies, my guess is that they will get on but you just dont know do you.

Yes I did read Budgies can be bullies to them and the other way around too.
I'm would be keeping them in separate cages and letting them out at different times. The cages won't be right next to each other but in the same room. :)

I've had a bit of experience with 'tiels. They are lovely birds but a bit messier than the budgies. They have a sort of dander that seems to get everywhere. But they are very nice and loving, and great companions if you get them trained properly. Breed quite easily. Easy to take care of too. Same general care as budgies, fresh foods, seed, pellets, etc. I've had success keeping them together [with budgies] in a large aviary cage, but others on this site are of the opinion that they do not get along housed together. I guess if you want to have them together; try it and see, but be prepared to separate them if you need to. I could've just been lucky, or the large cage helped. If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them as best as I can.

Well I have two now and I would like to try something a bit similar but also a bit different. Tiki<3Polly do you know how much they cost?
I was talking to my brother in law today and I think he was referring to a bird called a cockatoo and he said they cost £95 and the cages are dead expensive. :o

they are about $65 here, where a standard budgies is about $20, english around $40
cage price i would say a little more expensive than a budgies, but it all depends on the size. I've never bought a "budgie" cage, its always been a flight type cage, sutable for breeding too.

I see so I'm assuming he was talking about a Cockatoo which is more like a parrot than a cockatiel. :) Thanks!

Thank you, seems as though the price is not too bad then and in my what I can afford. :) It won't belong, only tomorrow and I will be going on the bus and heading down to the pet store.
The one I'm going is quite big called Pets at Home. :D

Thanks. I was concerned this morning about him because he was screaming/screeching quite loud, does anyone know what causes him to do it or is just natural?

I to have had a cockatiel in the past. He was quite sweet and sang pretty, but we had to find him a new home. My two boys and myself seem do be allergic to their dander. They are a lot messier than any other birds I have ever owned, and if you have allergies you might want to consider that. But they are beautiful-

Thanks for the information and advice. It was strange when I went into my pet store. My previous budgie was £69.99 and my Cockatiel cage was £49.99 and a lot bigger.
STRANGE!
