Mango didn't fight his depression and died in my arms the other day.
It seems that the death of his partner Chewy triggered his lack of will to survive, and he couldn't be without her anymore. I'd tried everything to perk him up for months, and even though he was friendly with other birds, he never seemed to bond the same way. So, he refused to eat and drink, slept all day, until he didn't wake up.
I was lucky to have this little bird. As I have an avairy, my birds are wild and are in no way tame. But Mango was different, for 4 years he wouldn't let me touch him (he'd bite me and fly away) but he'd be the closest and friendliest, and always be the first to greet me with I came over to the cage. Towards his death he let me take him out and hold him to me. I actually think he liked the comfort and warmth. Being able to finally cuddle my friend was the greatest experience in my time of bird owning.
I'd never experienced anything like this with any other bird.
Mango will be surely missed.
