A new cat has "adopted us". SHe followed us home and was straving so we of cousrse fed her and we're gonna keep her as long as she doesnt run off. i dont think she will unless Phantom or Figgy chase her off (our 2 outdoor cats) though, she loves us and follows me around rubbing and purring.

Anyways, in case she has something we're washing up adn changing our clothes after handling her so we dont pass soemthing to our other cats but could she pass something to our birds? only thing i know of that is transmitable to birds from cats is distemper.

I would deworm her. If she was a stray then there is a 99% chance she has worms. Also, check for fleas and ticks.

Glad you guys took her in! :D

Sorry, I have no idea whether anything can be transmitted between bird and cat. It sounds highly unlikely though.

Yeah, we thought of that. We'll have her wormed but luckily I've checked for fleas/ticks and there isnt any.

I think someone dumped her off in our neighborhood knowing soemone would take her in. Wish i knew it she was spayed. if she's been a stray for awhile now then no doubt she's pregnant.

If she is pregant check her stomche to see if you can feel any movement.

It's to know that people out there are willing to take on stray aminals and your one of them.

Have you named her yet?:)

Nope, haven't named her yet. I'm going to look at my list of names later. I'm better at naming boys rather than girls though lol. And we havent named our 2 new cockatiels yet either.

I felt her tummy and it feels kind of hard, like she is pregnant. but my mom felt it and says it feels normal so maybe i'm wrong. if she isnt already spayed we'll definitely have to have her spayed soon... how do the vets tell if a female is already spayed anyways, an xray?

Mmmm... I know with Roxy (my sister's dog) you can feel the scar tissue on her stomach from being spayed. Not sure if it's the same with cats.

We had three cats in South Africa. All of them were strays which we took in. Crookshanks even came to us with cigarette burns on her. :(

Crookshanks Lol, can you tell I'm a Harry Potter fan? ;)

It makes me so mad that people can just dump animals! :(
