i have a male and female budgie and ever since i brought home the female budgie,
all they do is fight and scream at each other. i have another cage i could use for one of them, do you think i should separate them?
Do they hurt each other? If so you need to separate them.

i don't think they hurt each other,
but sometimes the male will try to peck at her.
think it's territorial issues? seeing as it was his home first?
and, i'm positive that it's male female. (:

if they dont harm eachother its ok :)
i got 2 brothers that kinda bicker about who's toy it is while they got 5 other toys...
or fight over a food dish while they have 2 other food dishes..
but you can see they dont intend to really hurt eachother :)
so if your judgement is that they dont intend to really hurt eachother you can keep them together :)

I have a male and female that I bought at the same time....they were fine for a while and then started bickering....the female would kick the male off of perches and scare him away from the food dishes.......
I made sure I had a couple perches the same height in the cage and a nice long rope perch that easily fit the two on it with room to move around.........I removed the swing they fought over.........placed the exact same food dishes at the exact same level in the cage 3 dishes for 2 birds and then a water one........that helped alot...........For a short while I put 2 mirrors in one on each side of the cage and they each choose a mirror friend..........I have now taken the mirrors out and they are fine, so they were going through a stage........
If they are not hurting each other there are a lot of things to try before separating them especially since we like them to have a buddy!

Not surprising since its only been 6 days.
How did you introduce them? Did you quarantine the new one, then after, place their cages next to each other, or did you just plop the new one in the old ones cage? If you did, then its a territorial thing, and as long as no one is getting hurt, they will need to work things out. almost always they will with time :)

Did you have them in the same room but different cages so they could get used to each other for a while? If you didn't maybe it's worth giving them a cage each, next to each other, so they can bond a bit and then put them back together.
As others have said though some bickering is inevitable, just keep an eye to make sure they aren't going to hurt each other if they stay in the cage together.

I agree, they are working out the pecking order and its best to let them continue to work it out unless they become aggressive to the point of injuring each other.
I hope you quarantined your new bird for at least 30-45 days.:)
