Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy. Give your bird a chance to get accustomed to his surroundings and the noises etc. If he seems happy with all the attention from people going by and having a chat, great. Do you plan to hand tame him, and give him free time out of the cage? If so, and he gets this every day, he should be a happy birdie! If you dont, and he wont have time out, then I would say he would love a cage mate. If you choose to get another, can you get him from the same place? If they had a bunch there, I would get another now, and put them together, as they would not need quarantine, since they would have been at the pet store together. If you cant, then when you do get one later, you will need to keep them apart for 30-45 days. Most birds get along just fine, sure they will have their little squables, but its pretty rare that they would just hate each other. Sorry for the ramble on! keep us updated! and cant wait for the pickies!

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations on your new little budgie too!! They are such wonderful pets. My advice to you is to be patient with your little sweety as he grows accustomed to his new environment. Like Buuzbee said, give him some time to adapt and then see how he does by himself. If he doesn't seem happy, then you can consider getting him a friend....

You may wish to partially cover the cage of you new little guy to provide him with security so that he not exposed on all sides of the cage. Try to sit with him often and talk softly to him so he can get used to you.

You'll likely want to start offering some veggies (better earlier rather than later since the older a budgie gets, the less likely they are to try new things). I find that finely grating some fresh carrots and providing some cooked but cooled broccoli is easy enough to do since I've often got that stuff in my fridge anyway.

Good luck with your newbie and let us know how Capri is doing in his new home!! ;)
