Hi,

I went to the pet store to pick up some budgie food and made the mistake of looking at the budgies. Needless to say, I went home with a new cage (was planning to buy another anyway) and a new budgie. He is a beauty, but I am concerned that he may not be entirely healthy, so I will most likely have to take him back :( .

Anyway to get to the point, I was pretty sure that someone had posted a link to a site with pictures and descriptions/explanations of budgie poop, but I can't find it and it seems I did not bookmark it. I bought the budgie last Thursday and I do not have any evidence that he has eaten anything, except that he is still alive. :) But there are no seed husks around.

I am concerned because he is not doing a complete job of preening, He pretty much stays in one area of the cage and sometimes the tip of his wing feathers is below his tail. I had my suspicions from the start, but I wanted him, so I took a chance.

Oh and he is definitely being quarantined.

i will have a look around to see if i can find it for you. Sometimes it does take them a bit to get adjusted to the new home. how old is he? i have some hens that their wings kind of sag, but they did this eversince becoming mums... anyway, let me see what i can find...

Thanks, he is an older bird, easier to tell he is male that way. :) I am actually surprised that the pet stores have so many older birds.
