View Full Version : Not understanding aids
You all know the trick when you push your budgies lower tummy and they hop on your finger? Well my new budgie certainly doesn't! She just sits there.
How can I get her to actually get on my finger without lifting her claws with my finger? Just keep trying?

Yep, just keep trying. Each time you press your finger up against her belly (in a backward and upward direction), say "step-up" and repeat this several times. Eventually, your budgie should figure out that you are wanting her to step up onto your finger.

If you exert enough pressure, and it won't hurt the bird at all, she'll have to step onto your finger to maintain her balance. They resist at first but soon learn to simply step up on your finger. Keep trying.
She does it automatically now, she is unbelievably tame!
