Hi All,

I've been browsing forums and the web in general to find a similar beak like my new baby budgie Pepe. It seems brittle in some areas and his cere looks like its 'peeling'. It does not have a honeycomb shape and does not look like any of the scaly beak pictures I have seen.

Here is a photo of Pepe.

Your help is most appreciated!

Love Pepe :budgie: and Burrito :) xox

Your sweety looks perfectly normal. Some peeling is normal; this occurs as new layers of beak are revealed. The cere can sometimes do that as well. So much like our skin sheds to get rid of old, dead skin cells, a budgie's beak will do the same. You don't have anything to worry about. ;)

To me that looks normal, nothing to worry about, all budgies beaks and cere's look likle that. :D

thankyou budgiekin and billy and lily for your help! :) I have been worried about this all evening and you have certainly calmed my worries!!! All I was finding on the web was scaly beak.. which certainly looks scary (and painful for the poor bird) in the later stages! Hard to find pictures of a peeling cere..

Many thanks again :)
