You mean ice-cream sticks?

Those are fine to use, but make sure they are clean! :) An even better thing to use is native plants. If you have some bottlebrush plants near you then you should break off a branch (flowers, leaves and nuts included) and put it in your cage. You can also use eucalyptus plants and leaves. This is what budgies eat in the wild so it is really good for them! :)

They love playing with it!

Also, you should never use glue for bird toys. It could be toxic and the fumes would be very bad! (Birds have very sensitive smell. Even something like deodorant can kill a budgie.)

I always break of a small branch or two. :D I love all the native plants here, my birds love them too. :D My budgies aren't really as fussed of them as my lorikeets! :D

the only glue you can use around birds is Elmer school glue it is non toxic (i ate it as a child and I'm perfectly fine, along with millions of other kids lol)

but of course you don't use it where they'd actually be able to get to it,

I used it on the ladder of my play gym, to hold the "steps" together the glue is between the wood and the birds can't get to it.

and pop sickle/ice cream sticks are fine they sell bird toys made with them.

I was one of the few that never even tasted either. However, I did put Elmer's on my hand and then peel it off.

My dog, on the other hand, used to LOVE eating crayons and we kids loved seeing the "results" of that! LOL

I believe you can leave the bark on it...the birds like to peel it off.:) You can disinfect with Apple Cider Vinegar and water.
