Okay, my birds get regular, daily out of cage time, supervised my me every minute. Since i got my new lovebird, Lola, Faith and Lola have really bonded. They both don't have their wings clipped, and i think they think they overule Kip. Poor Kip, they alway pick on him. Is it possible Lola and Faith think they are better than Kip because they can fly? Should i clip their wings? Or get Kip a friend? I know chompie_puppie experianced something like this with her birds. I just feel like Kip is lonely now, and Faith has NO interest in him at all. Everytime I put Kip to sit with them, they fly away, and leave him sitting there. :( What sould i do? :(

i've heard of stories in wich budgies that werent 100% got rejected by the rest of the flock...
if you ask me i would wait till kip get his wings back for sure:)
i dont like wing clipping
BUT...
an uneven number of birds that hang out together most of the time leaves 1 bird out. so getting him a friend might be a good idea...
but thats my opinion :)

His not 100% rejected, i just feel bad for him. Kip and Faith are housed together, but most the time, except when i'm out or during the night, Faith hangs out with Lola. Getting him a friend would be a good idea, but than i'll just have to house all 3 together at night, so it's uneven again. (after quantine oif course.) But, they're out most the time, so i'm confused. :(

i didnt mean 100% rejected...
budgies that arent a 100% .. like unable to fly... got rejected in that case..
that is confusing...
i dont know much bout lovebirds and how they mix with budgies... but maybe an idea:
either get the lovebird a buddie so faith wil go and play with kip.. or get a budie for kip :) at night time all they do is sleep so i dont think having 3 in 1 cage is a big issue if you let them out allot.
just options :)
I'm confused... why couldnt you house all 4 together if you got Kip a friend?

Ohkay. I was planning on getting Lola a friend, but i wanted to try and tame her first. I don't think it will make much of a difference now that she's with Faith anyway tho. I still don't know what to do! :(

They got along, but never actually bonded. :S:( They wern't always housed together, but i joined the cages together. I think Kip needs a soul mate. :( But because i'm out, at school ect, i still don't like the idea of 3 budgies in a cage, uneven numbers again. Maybe if i get two, than its not uneven, they night all get along? I might be lucky. But if i get another lovebird, Faith and Lola could still be bonded, and i have another lonely bird. :( So confusing! All i want is them to be happyy. :(

Oh :P sorry, I thought Lola was a budgie at first.

Have you tried leaving Lola out of the picture so that it's just Kip and Faith out of their cage together for a while? This may allow their relationship to develop better. It would be interesting to see how the dynamics change over time....

Yeah, but there no other rooms in the house i can let them out, we have cats. My room is the only really "cat safe" room. I feel bad when i just let some out, and leave the others. :( They've been housed together for about a month, since quantine finished, even before i got my lovebird. They don't fight, but, i don't know. I never really realised they don't really, bond.

Sometimes they won't mesh just like people. Even if you get a friend (which I am guilty of and famous for here) does not mean he will get along with the new one either. I would not house the lovebird with the budgies. Playtime is one thing but, I think you take a chance if they have the same house. I may be wrong but, I would look into that issue :)

I would certainly never advocate housing a lovebird with another birds species, like a budgie. And you are right enicol6, getting another budgie may not always be the best option since there is no guarantee that they will get along.
I think it is very important to make sure that Kip is able to thrive. In this present situation, he cannot, and that is not fair to him.
How is Kip when it is just Faith around him? Does she pick on him in this type of situation?

I bet Lola & Faith have bonded more because they can both fly and Kip gets left out because he is clipped.
I don't really know what to tell you because it has to be your decision. As the others have aid getting another Budgie doesn't guarantee a bond, but then again they may have a great bond. I know Lilifield's Kiki (lovebird) and her Budgie Skye are very bonded...like they are married. But she also has several other Budgies.
My suggestions would be to clip Faith & Lola's wings and see if that helps the situation. When are you planniing to get your next Lovebird?

Kip and Faith don't fight, or she doesn't pick on him. They just sit there, apart, and don't talk. Kip just sits there, while Faith and Lola chirp to each other, i would never house them together anyway. I'm worried if i get him a friend, that they won't get along. :(

Thats exactly what i though. They think they overule him because they can fly. I don't like clipping their wings, but Kip's were already clipped. I wasn't really planning on getting another lovebird until Lola was trained, ect. I've heard they are one person birds, but as i said, noiw she's bonded with Faith, i suposse it doesn't matter. But than, Kip's wings are still clipped, and i have 3 birds overuling poor little Kip. :(

That's what i thought to. But Faith and Lola, could still be bonded, they are completly, and utterly bonded, they ADORE each other. I think i might have to clip their wings. :( For the sake of poor Kip, because they think they are better than him, because they can fly.

Kip I know you don't like having to clip Lola & Faith, but it may make things more equal for kip...they will all grow back out.:) If this were to solve your problem then you may not have to get another Budgie and you can just get another Lovie when you're ready.

That's what i was thinking, and looks like that's what i'm going to have to do. :( It'll all work in aswell, because than it'll be easier for me to work on taming Faith and Lola. :) And it won't be such a mission every day to get them back in! Lol, thank you everyone for your help. :)

i think you should get kip a friend. odds are they'll bond. maybe you could clip his friend's wings so they can grow back at the same time as kip's and in the meantime he'll have another flightless friend?
