How do you know if your budgie is pregnant? :S Rain has gotten very fat in the last two days and she is breathing faster than usual... PLEASE let me know ANYTHING on what i have posted.... really... please! :(

Does she have a mineral block/cuttlebone/egg shell?

Do you want more budgies?

Have you got a nestbox?

Is she eating and drinking more?

If you have a nestbox is she taking interest in it?

Has she possibly mated?

Are the male and female regurgitating more?

Is the females cere dark brown and the males bright blue?

If the answer is yes to 3 or more of these questions then I think theres an 80% chance that she's pregnant.

Although they might be infertile eggs.

I don't have different cage and boxes are very cheap!

I don't use another cage, even though I've got one, because they love their normal one. I put them in the other one and they went WILD! Well no all they did was hang on the side of the cage, pant and flap about, so I put them back.

All these things my budgies are doing, have got, except mate!

I'd say I'm 95% sure that Rain's pregnant then.

The budgie will begin to have larger dropppings then normal and display nesting behavoir.Such as chewing and clawing at things or innside the nestbox.

Budgies generally don't get fatter when they are carrying an egg, so she is probably just fluffing up her body more than usual which gives the impression that she is plump or "pregnant".

She is obviously exhibiting brooding behaviour (as evidenced by her humping), so she is obviously feeling frisky! The most significant change you will notice if she is going to lay eggs is in her droppings. Just like Joey said, they will become much larger than normal (probably about the size of 6 or 7 poops together).

Have you actually seen your budgies mating? Sometimes they haven't got it figured out if they are new to mating, so it will take several attempts to be successful.

iv not seen them mate... ill put a box in anyway and if they lay... well yey! If not... keep trying i guess
