either he's playing.. or if he actually starts stepping on thier backs, he's trying to mate. but since it sounds like he's doing this to the girls, it sounds like he's trying to mate

I think the male wants to mate. Sometimes the girls just don't want any part of it. Sometimes they do.

boys sometimes mate with each other...
just separate the male from the females, and you'll be fine

how long would you separate them for i didnt even think the girls where in breeding season anyways b/c one of them is maybe around six months the other a year or more but none of there beaks have that brown crusty look i thought they were supposed to have

you should separate them for (my guess) about a month. besides, they aren't old enough, they aren't in breeding condition... it would be really dangerous to let them breed right now, which is why you should separate them. and when you put the male back in, change the cage around just to make sure he won't try it again.

There is no need to separate them. What they are doing is normal play (or fore-play). It won't do any harm. They are unlikely to breed if they are not in condition and have no nest. Why punish a bird by putting it in solitary confinement just because it is behaving normally

no there are no nesting boxes just plenty of perches, yeah i was hoping i would not have to remove him ,i am keeping a close eye on them,i had my daughter watch out for them while i went out earlier she said they slept while i was gone,so i will just keep an eye and ear out:)

It sounds like he's trying to mate. Yesterday I took Mudge and April out and set them on the floor to wander around. Mudgie put his foot on her tail and almost got on her back. I had to shoo him off. Dont want baby birds! lol

I am pretty sure that my vet told me that the male bird can push the female into condition by applying pressure on her back, which is why petting and holding your budgie is not necessarily a good thing.
