I have a budgie girl named Luna and my brother has an albino budgie, Marshmallow, and he they are following eachother around, grooming eachother, chirping and talking really sweet to eachother. I just don't know what to look for. Please help.:budgie:

If they are preening one another then that is a good sign. And also chirping on one another is good too.

There are several signs that they are, perhaps, ready to breed. First, of course, is they must be in condition. Even though they normally pay a lot of attention to one another, at breeding time, the male will be much more attentive to the female. They will feed and preen each other even when not in the breeding mode but seem to do more of it when in. You'll know the male is serious when you see him get very close to the female, slightly ruffle his head feathers, make funny sounds, bob his head up and down, when his eyes dialate, and, with all of this going on, he hits his beak against the female's beak. Quite a show.
Just be sure you have a nest box, with a concave bottom, available for them. At this point, I think they'll be needing it. :-)
Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hey there,
With regards to your reply ETA Hoffman, My budgies do exactly all of those things. He gets real close to her and his head feathers stand up, eyes dilate to a small white ring, bangs his beak against hers, feeds her by regurgitating and sings and chirps to her.
The hen seems to be in the box more than he does but he does occasionally pop in their too. I have provided them with a nest box and concave insert they have an iodine block and cuttlebone. I don't know if all of these are the true signs of my budgies mating.
I know for a fact they love each other they even share a swing together, even though they have one each. When I purchased my hen she was extremely fat so I let her fly around the house and within 2 weeks she lost all of her weight and looked in top condition.
Now, her diet hasn't changed, all of the food stuffs are still the same but she seems to have put on weight just above her feet! A thought had occured to me that she may have mated! How many times do they mate? And do you reckon she is expecting? They have around 10-12 hours of natural day light aswell.
Please help.......any information is much appreciated as I need reassuring.
Many Thanks.
Oh BTW the cock has a bright blue cere and the hen has a crusty looking, pale pink colour cere.

wait, are you saying that you have an albino budgie, sorry off topic....but if its the white bird in the pic, then its not an albino, it is just a stange mix, and how old are you budgies......they should be atleast 14 months each

Ok well jst to update you guys, I was up early this morning read some new threads that have been posted and noticed Romeo put his leg on Sukhi as she crouched down to the perch!! I'm sure this was their mating position?
Anyways I got really excited and as a result ruined it because they went back into the nest box!!!:(
So if they were commencing the mating ritual then I guess it is a matter of time.
Can anyone reassure me by telling me if they were actually mating, if so then I'll feel more confident that it will happen.

Hi Kalps...it sure sounds like your budgies mated. Usually when one puts their feet on the other, that is considered the "mating position". If the eyes pinned, then that is very much some frisky mating behaviour too! ;)

Thaks budgiekin but I do hope they mated while I was out as he didnt stay in that position for even a second!
Just another question, I recently got a male budgie back from a mate of mines to keep and I've put his cage next to my cage. Will this affect the mating?:D :budgie:
