Good morning,
So there I was, visiting a rather nice pet store in NJ, when I noticed a basically white pied-with-black/blue male parakeet in a separate cage.
I'm used to parakeets in pet stores fluttering away when I put my finger near them, so I was quite surprised when he looked at me, looked at my finger, and moved closer. Then closer, then closer, then WHOMP! Now I know the speed of a budgie strike!!
Boy that was a shock. Knowing that he couldn't break my skin (hope hope hope) I put my finger back and started talking to him. Found out more of his story - someone had brought him in 5 days ago, after finding him outside. And to make a long story short Master Keet (as in, Master Jedi) has joined my flock. Hasn't chomped on me since that first devouring - he steps up nicely and liked to be scritchled on the neck.
MK burbles like a brook and also knows how to make kissing sounds! I'm keep him separate from the other budgies for now, but he certainly does seem to be quite a sweetie. I'll post his pic soon.
Enjoy,
Barbara
