we went into band one of the babies today ended up banding 2 of the 3 but any way the 2 oldest ones are going to be albino's
1st i noticed with the oldest one the itty bitty amount of feathers it has were all white, I told my b/f I don't see pink eyes but if it stays pure white w/ darks eyes I'd know the mutations w/out asking LOL (dark eyed clear) then when i went to put it back in the nest box i noticed a little slit open and saw pink (my eyes haven't been working all that swell lately i've been having issues with one) So i asked my b/f is that red eyes? he said yes
then i took the 2nd one out No feathers yet but i noticed the red eyes right off the bat
I didn't look at the 3rd one yet
but so far we have 2 albino's this go around

awe...little bubs put a smile on my face :)
Looking around at various pics of nesting boxes, it amazes me that mine refuse to have any kind of bedding in the nesting box. I've tried to put that carefree nesting stuff in (can't remember the name, but was what you have in yours), and she just goes crazy throwing it out until every little piece is out. the closest I've gotten to actual bedding in the nesting box is a piece of cloth spread along the bottom AFTER the chicks have hatched, to make cleaning easier lol
2 albino's....I can only hope I'd be that lucky :) can't wait for my own to hatch....

you almost got the name (actually 1st time i read it i read it as carefresh then i saw it said care free - LOL i'm geting old and need glasses :p
I have one hen that throws it All out right now she's only got a small amount in and it's mainly in the corners and just a few chunks in the center
doesn't matter how many times I put more in she throws it all back out
but she had 4 healthy babies w/out bedding - i kept putting it in even after they hatched but she refused to leave it - I was so scared they were going to get splayed leg but none of them did they were all healthy and grew up great :)
this pair (from the picture) this is there 2nd clutch, thier 1st clutch was 6 eggs (one got crushed when a tiel jumped off the cage and onto the nest box and the lid fell in (we've fixed that issue) only 3 hatched , we got a grey Spangle (like the dad), a sky blue dominate pied, and a sky blue no albino's at all
this time she had 9 eggs So far only 3 hatched I'm going to check the 3rd one tomorrow and see if i can tell if it has red eyes too - not that it matters to me but I am curious now lol

They are so cute and what an awesome nest box. It's like the nest o' mansion. I am sure I said this before but, you surely do have beautiful birds. Do you sell them or keep them?

They are so pretty. My little girl would love those babies. She has a thing for white animals be they dogs, cats or birds. That is quite a crew of mouths to feed with still three more to go!! Mom and dad are doing really well. The babies look great:)

actually one of the babies (or 2) are laying on the 4th egg they had 9 total this time around
but thanks to some hoodlims blowing one of those hand held blow horns like you take to football games last night over and over while they walked up and down the street one egg got a bit smooshed, not sure if it's going to hatch (if it was going to to start with) but when my b/f went out and said something to them , that's when i think it happened because they walked down the road a bit more -thought they couldn't be seen because we got some pretty high bushes in front of our house, but they were directly across from the bird room and that wall is where all my breeding budgies are and they just laid into that horn for about 5 seconds , a good 8 times and then when they seen my b/f jump off the porch they took off like bats outta well you know where.

SOME (not all!!!!!!!) teenagers can be so obnoxious. Goodness help my children if I ever find them doing that kind of stuff. A few kids did the same thing at a festival I was at. They would point it at someone press it and then laugh. They got it taken away but come on.

06-21-2008, 01:19 AM
these ones thought it was hilarious and all fun and games - they don't know my ole' man too well (actually they don't know him at all lol) the little thing will set him off and he's off on a warpath
he tracked down the one's mother today and told her, he said she wasn't happy with her kid and promised it would never happen again
I said I know it won't happen again because next time it does I will go pound on the door and say You owe me X amount of money because YOUR son and his stupid friends killed yet another unborn baby bird. and i'm sick of it
atvchick95
06-22-2008, 03:55 PM
out of the 5 who hatched so far (out of 9 eggs) 4 are albino - the 3 oldest and the youngest, the "middle" one looks like it may be taking after daddy another grey spangle (like Storm)
we decided to take the egg out that got smooshed from the hoodlums the other day blowing a blow horn right outside the birds window
my b/f broke it open and there was in deed a baby in it :( not to far from hatching
STUPID TEENAGERS i just wanna go smack some common sense and manners into them

I am sorry about the baby. I am glad you figured out at least who one of them was. There are so many kids with no manners it is very upsetting. There are many adults too. I am always on my kids about that because it does not come second nature anymore. A lot of the kids around them are not very polite so there is not a constant reminder from each other when their mother is not there to remind them herself. I give them the hypothetical "how would you feels..." and "what would you do ifs" You can imagine how much they love those conversations. I hope it does not happen again. Again I am so sorry about your baby bird.
atvchick95
06-22-2008, 06:54 PM
Thanks
yeah my kids know when they go to a friends house they have to act like they do at home , manners are a key role in our house, they know they still have to follow our rules from our house at their friends house along with any rules the friends parent(s) have
the way I see it if they follow the rules they have every day at our house, They won't get in trouble at a friends house (even if the parents have no rules) lol
