A Little Reminder...

There has been a recent wave of members leaving the site due to negative attitudes/comments toward them. Let me remind everyone here that this site is here so you can share your experiences with your budgies with others. If someone makes a comment you don't agree with, it's fine to disagree, but do so in a mature and respectful manner. No name calling, no making fun. If you disagree, as I said, do it respectfully and be sure to support your opinion as well.

For those who feel they are being attacked, remember that you can always report a post you feel is disrespectful and/or rude. Simply click the http://talkbudgies.com/images/steel/buttons/report.gif button at the top of the post. This goes for members who read a post not directed toward them that is blatantly rude/disrespectful. Remember that the staff don't catch all these posts, so your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

From now on, any posts we see or get reports of as being rude or disrespectful will be warned (and possibly deleted). Repeated offenders will be suspended or banned. I've had enough with members leaving our site because others are treating them poorly, so the other staff and I are going to do everything to put an end to this. All of this will start taking place immediately!

I think it's SAD that people can't get along. This should be a fun place for everyone to be able to go and escape the cares of the world.

I was watching a program yesterday about the 1 year anniversary of the "Katrina" victims and it made me realize that I have it so good. There are still people in many areas that are homeless, jobless, and have still not found family members. Others still have no possessions or income. Many have lost loved ones and lots can't even deal with the after-effects and are suffering from stress. When I see this, it makes me realize how blessed I really am and that our priorities are often out of order or our values in life are questionable.

Some things are just not a big deal or worth squabbling about - and having differences over birds or opinions is definitely not of importance.

I hope that people who have left this forum with "hurt feelings" will return and realize that maybe someone was just having a bad day when they said something they shouldn't have or understand that people just sometimes speak out of turn when they should remain quiet.

One by one, we can make a difference. Why not let it start with you??? ;)

I would hate to see people leave such a nice forum such as, talk budgies. This forum was pretty new when I joined several months ago and it was a wonderful place to be. But lately it hasn't been the same, a few months ago, 2 trolls spammed on board after board. Now, that they are banned and 1 or 2 months after peope began leaving because of rude things other members said to them. I would really hate to see this forum go because people fight over things. IT'S NOT OK to insult people, put yourself in their shoes before you type something rude and uncalled for. And to the people who have been insulted, I'm sorry that this happened to you, but there is an IGNORE list you can put the person on if you want to. PLEASE don't leave because of one person.

Yes, don't forget about the ignore list feature! I forgot to mention that, but it's handy for blocking someone who's annoying you.

Also remember, that all of you can help solve this problem by simply reporting problem posts to the staff. You don't have to be a staff member to help stop these disrespectful posts.

I'm new so I won't know what's been going on in the past but that sounds awful. I just hope that our current members can stick together and continue this delightful web community. :)

For the most part, things have gone VERY well on this site! We have had very few incidences of members being mean to one another. A big kudos to everyone who has been making their fellow members feel welcome! ;)

I'm not referring to any specific incidents. I'm not singling anyone out. I'm just making a general statement for everyone to be aware of. Sometimes, as time passes, members begin to forget the rules, and they need a little reminder. I've given reminders in the past (different topics of course).
