not the tulle kind, but the kind they use for sports jersys? or would tulle be better?

Im building an indoor aviary this summer and I didn't wan't to mess with hardware cloth and such. and since cloth netting is cheaper, It would help alot.

Im going to be turning part of my brothers bedroom (which I get when He goes to college) into an aviary. I was going to get the clear rubber sheets that they use to make lawn chairs and put that on the floor for poo protection, sew two walls made of netting onto the plastic's edges and use a staple gun to staple those to the wall. then, I was going to get a different color for the door, which I will just hang up and use a really long zipper or buttoms to close it Or just leave it free hanging with enough to keep the birds from flying out.. I was also going to sew trim onto the netting so it doesn't fray.

btw Im only using two walls, because it will be in the corner.

ok... first things first... a rubber mat would not be a good idea, unfortunately budgies and other parrot type birds are notorious for chewing things like that, and impacting their crop, leading to death...

sorry... it sounds like a great idea, just want to warn you of the problems you may encounter...

i had a bird room in my last house, that only had a sheet for a door, the sheet didnt even go to the floor, but the budgies had enough to do that they never came out of their room, the cockatiels on the other hand, came in and out as they pleased...

you will also want to make sure the budgies can not chew on the staples, or make sure they are a safe metal... i have never seen staples made of a safe metal though...

its a great idea, but it needs a LOT of thought put into it... and its great you have somewhere like here where you can 'bounce' ideas off people, there are a lot of us here to help you... if i think of anything else i will let you know...

sorry i dont have more positive ideas for you...

Maybe a sheet of lynoleum for the floor...I know you can go to menards or home depot and get reminent sheet goods (left over peices) for usually good deals...

We used just a regular curtain over the door to keep them in the room.

For my door way of my bird room i have a screen that was once part of a cloth/ screen Gazebo that I had around my swimming pool last summer to help keep the bugs out but had a storm that knocked it down and broke the framing

the screening was still fine so we used it Works great!

Yesterday we used the rest of it to Put over the side 2 windows because the babies keep nibbling on the screen and wood that holds the screen into the window so i had to put a stop to it, So I can continue to open those side windows

let me go see if i can find a pic of my screen"door" to show ya it was cheap and easy to do

Here's a side view of the screening (it's 2 pieces sewn together to fit our doorframe) it's the black thing (not the blue curtain - that curtain is covering my shelves)

She's not turning the whole room into a bird room, just part into a big flight so i dont think a sheet would work.

I am not sure what the fabrics are you posted, can you see thru jersey fabric?

How about making your own screens? You would just need the sides, and then get the screen (like for your windows) on a roll, they are easy enough to make for regular windows. Not sure how you'd make them really sturdy, but i would think it can be done somehow???

Wouldn't they be able to chew holes in the jersey fabric not to mention getting their liittle nails and toes caught in it? I would think it would not be all that easy to clean either.

Personally i would go with the hardware cloth its much more sturdy, easier to clean, and they can't get caught in it.:)

ya, I was thinking hardware cloth, but the only kinds you can get here are really expensive and are only 2 feet tall. I suppose the jersy fabric holes are too big.

tulle is the stuff you use for mosiquito nets. yes its see through and it comes in a bunch of different colors. I was going to cover up the rubber mat, just use it so stuff doesn't get on the floor.

I was going to use the staples on the outside where they can't get to them. or I could use tacks.

this is a small piece of tulle I cut off a larger piece we couldn't use anymore. it is four times as big to show you what it looks like. which means the real holes are tfour times as small

Im getting too many budgies for the cages I got right now, so I was just going to make them a flight.

The screening i use they don't get thier toes caught not even the cockatiels

I'll see if i can find a close up pic of it, it's just netting not screen like on windows

it's not a close up but this is similar to what I had before the storm broke the frame

I bought it at our local aldi's for like 20 bucks
