Hi keet fans,
I was thinking of renaming my keets.I have two olive green one pied recessive and the other normal and both hens with a opaline dilute sky blue yellow faced hen. They all can fly well with their wings. The opaline is over a year and a half old bought from Denver pet store. The two male cocks are olive green normal and albino grey winged or pied recessive blue. The males don't have their wings yet but they are getting there.I judge the males to be 6-12 months old while the two olive green hens are just a bit older maybe 8-12 months old.
I was thinking of mating the hens with these males when they are mature but I am not sure when they will be old enough.I think i will wait till they get their wings fully grown. What is your advice for the breding age and process?:budgie::S:D;)

Im not sure what you mean by the don't have thier wings yet?? if they are over a month old they have wings (flight wings etc)
Recomended age for breeding is 18 months old, with 2 healthy birds
But it sounds like you need to do alot more research before even considering breeding
it is NOT easy,it is very time consuming, and heart breaking
Alot of people go in to breeding thinking " oo i'm going to have cute baby birds blah blah blah" this is NOT always the case, some are born but die within hours or days
the parents don't take care of them then you have to and if you do not know how to hand feed properly you can kill the baby , it's alot of hard work, and If you want to have a life outside the home, it's not something to get into when your young.
But that's just my 2 cents on it

Aww. I hope she lays some eggs soon. I am crossing my fingers.
Atvchick95 - Not that I am thinking of breeding any time soon, but I was wondering if you simply have one set of budgies who get along well, can they be mated? Would it take up a person's whole day for just caring for the babies from one pair of budgies? I am just wondering because I have no experience with this. :p And if my budgies laid some eggs... well I might decide to become a mommy.
