Hi I just got my first two budgies last Saturday. Neither have names yet though. We're not sure of the gender of the blue one. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as help with names.
Their cage:

its a bit hard to tell because you dont have a close up of the cere and the reflection of light could be misleading the true coloring, but i would have to venture a guess towards female. just seems to be a very defined white ring around the nostrils and the light blue and white to the rest makes it seem more likely it will be female. hard to say.
o and i love your dogs :)
!!!OMG!!!Your budgies must be in heaven in that cage! Anyways I say female there is lots of blue but the white circles indicate female and it will soon start to turn white or a light tan in the middle if female than completely brown to white shade when older:D Beautiful Sky Blue Dominant Pied
That cage must have cost alot!! Ive been looking at cages today, a big one that would fit 2 budgies was $95 new zealand dollars!! Yea they must be in heaven!! :)

I don't know much about mutations but the green one is the normal variety(I think...)
Nice cage!

Wowy! Nice pictures! And what a nice cage for those two! Holy smokes! They must absolutely love it in there! As for your blue budgie....hmmmmm....I would hazard a guess and say female as well...at least that's what I think based on the pictures...

Your budgies are beautiful! :)
As to the sex of your blue one, I'm fairly sure it is a young female. From all the places I've searched, the general rule is:
Young males start out with a pinkish and/or purple-ish cere that later turns blue.
Young females start out with a white-ish and/or blue-ish cere that later turns brown.
Of course, that doesn't apply to certain mutations like lutinos and others.
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. :) I love that second picture.

Thanks! After having them for two weeks they STILL don't have names! Any suggestions? All we've come up with are Jazz (blue one, because she loves to make a lot of noise) and Taz. But I don't really like those names much and they've been called the blue one and the green one. lol.
About a week after getting them, we started letting our pointer, Casey, see them (in cage of course!) a bit more. Well they both would start running up close to Casey and running back. It reminded me of Finding Nemo when at school the fish leave and see a boat. Then they keep swimming closer to it daring eachother. Which was exactly what they did. Then when Casey started to turn around to leave they would make noises at her. Every single time! It was hilarious.
I love the cage too. We got it for only $100 USD. They took $40 off because the stand is slightly crooked. You have to look really close to it to notice.
Hopefully once I get them to like me I'll upload a lot more pictures. I LOVE photography. But sadly due to my impatient sister they went a step back. I had it so they would let me pet them and could care less if my hand was in there. But my sister had to get them out and now they run away every time I reach in.
BTW, sorry it took me so long to get back. I'm a member on several dog forums and that's where I'm typically at, and since I don't know much about birds I mainly just lurk.
And since you guys obviously love birds, here's one of the ducks we took care of last spring, we named her Godzilla cause she would peck at us a lot in the beginning.

Awwww, look at that cute little duck. lol, so sweet. I like your cage also. My lonely budgie would get lost in there. lol. Good luck with the name, I don't like picking out names, which is why I let my children name my budgie. :D .
