what can I do?

hi am a concerned Mum of a ten month old Ella. she has been sick for 6 days. three of which were at the vet where he could make no diagnosis. so Ella is back at home now with no improvement. she is still fluffed up and sleeping all the time(except to eat and drink). still making no noises.I have her in a room with a heater and a light for extra warmth and she is also on probiotics. what else can i do? HELP

There's not much you can do, but take her back to the vets. Are her eating & drinking habit's normal? Does she live in a cage with another bird?

is she getting a draft where she is ? what you are doing is pretty much as best as you can do for her. just have to keep at it and hope for the best. hope everything turns out alright

Yes, definitely you shold be seeing an avian vet. Also, I would get a second opinion. We had a bird that was under a vets care, and continued to get sicker and sicker. We switched vets, and found out the bird had been misdiagnosed. Our bird recovered, and we have a wonderful vet now, and we'll never have to switch again, but if ever I doubt his diagnosis, I wouldn't hesitate to get a second opinion!

How are Ella's droppings? Do they look normal? And yes, I agree with the others, an AVIAN vet is a must....her behaviour does not sound normal at all....has she had a fecal gram stain? blood work?

One of our cockatiels was really sick and sleeping constantly, she lost lots of weight and I'm sure she would have died if I hadn't intervened. I couldn't get her to the vet, but did some research and she definitely needed medication. She has been on meds for 3 weeks now and is doing great with only 8 days left to be treated. I said all of this to say that it sounds like Ella needs medicine. If your vet hasn't put her on any then you should look for a different vet asap.
