Petition Against Animal Cruelty on YouTube

After hearing about (I didn't dare watch them) disgusting videos containing innocent budgies being fed to snakes (while people laughed at it) I decided to start a petition against YouTube and it allowing animal cruelty.

There have been many, many videos, including that of budgies & rabbits being fed to snakes (while people laugh, one of them even said "Snake Eats Rabbit on Trampoline - Better Version"), dogs being strangled & killed, guinea pigs being put in pools, birds drinking beer, birds being chased and abused...and YouTube doesn't do a thing. No matter how many people flag and comment, YouTube does nothing.

Two disgusting videos by the same person showed a bunch of children chasing a beautiful Sun Conure around a house, while there was an adult in the background. We flagged, commented, and e-mailed. What did youtube do? Call us "a bunch of bird freaks" and claimed "the video attracted people" and refused to take it down! In the end the user removed it themself. Same thing with the Cockatoo drinking beer video.

YouTube states in their rules "Animal Cruelty isn't allowed". How can they consider the dying screams of an animal not cruel?

Not only do they need to remove these videos, but they also need to get the person's information (which they have access to) and send it to the authorities (depending on the country).

Please sign my petition. Once we reach our goal of 1,000 signatures we will present it to YouTube and hope they do something. Please, do it for the animals.

I had NO idea! I never watch anything on youtube, so I had no idea. HOW DISGUSTING!!!! These people need to be brought down and justice needs to be dealt. I'm going to look into it and see if there is more we can do...

The only thing I have to say in youtube's defense is that they don't have enough staff to keep up with the complaints. There are many videos on there that are not allowed.

You need to get them where it hurts, advertising. Let their advertisers know that you will be boycotting them as long as they use youtube. Close out your youtube account and tell them why. Post a video on youtube complaining about the situation. Alert the news media to the problem. Send complaints to the government and all animal cruelty groups you can find.

When there is enough noise, then youtube will have to react.

And I disagree with the staffing issue: they whipped R.o.l.e.x. (3-day event) footage off in lightening time due to copyright issues. Apparently amateur footage taken at the event is no able to be put onto youtube due to a clause on the ticket stub.

That was hugely fast.

Yet they keep horrible footage of horses falling. Kids love to put together montages of horses falling at fences. Many are life-threatening for horse and rider.

I have a love/hate relationship with youtube. Lots of great dressage video, my fave bollywood stuff, but then you have this kind of thing. Kids with video cameras and editing software and no brains. Great combo.

I used to enjoy watching nice videos of birds and dogs and other animals...and posting my own too. Then I found out about the horrible stuff on there....there's more than just animal abuse...:mad:


Most of the awful movies seem to be posted by kids or younger people...like the snakes eating budgies and rabbits and so on. Juvenile delinquents, guess they couldn't find any ****ography on television and the internet so they decided to feed innocent animals to snakes. Great. :rolleyes:

I saw this same video accidently. I was looking for funny budgie videos and somehow this nasty one popped up. I could not watch it all the way through cause it was making my blood boil. I had a couple of not nice things to say to them.

I also signed. I don't think it is a staffing issue. Of course, they cannot watch every movie. But I and many others "flag" these videos..and they could look at them and remove them. They never do.

Ironically, my own video of my budgies was removed several times. The reason was that I had titled it "budgies X-rated". When I renamed it "Budgies having fun", the movie was allowed after all.

Well, I can say I'm EXTREMELY pleased with the turnout so far! I only started the petition last night...and we have currently 228 signatures! We will reach 1,000 in no time!

This kind of thing makes me so sick I'm actually almost crying. I signed the petition and sent it along, but I wish I could do more. People who abuse animals rarely stop there, so I believe that each of these people is abusing someone else, (it's documented), and it makes me even sadder. I know I've flagged TONS of videos like that. Or of people feeding live rodents to piranhas or other things. A lot of them aren't removed. . . Ugh. Too bad we can't do to most of those people what they do to those poor babies. . .

I just signed this petition. All I can say is wow. Just. Wow. From a psychological and criminal point of view this type of behavior is commonly found in those who become psycho and sociopaths. Anyone who would treat an animal like this wouldn't think twice about doing it to a human.

I used to LOVE Barney the Dinosaur!:eek: I don't believe I could even stand him! His voice is soooooooo annoying! Thank god we don't hear about him as much in Australia anymore. He was big in the 90's when I was growing up, but died down as we entered the new century.
