feel free to move this if you think it should be elsewhere!

i think it would be a great idea to have a topic showing our cages or aviarys. to list how many birds we have in them, and the size. it will give new owners an idea what to look for when getting a cage, also how to set them up.

what do you think all?

here is the aviary before anyone went in. it can hold 25 - 30 birds. it is 8ft tall, 6ft wide and 4 ft deep (my husband built it from scratch! a gift for mothers day!)

we roll down the blinds each night to keep any breezes out

here is a pic of one of the breeding cages and quarantine cages. we had 5 birds total in here this season, mom & dad and 3 babies.

i got these cages online, 4 for $90, they have a divided, so you could actaully have 4 cages. in an emergency, that would be good! (i dont have one out right now, i would guess 3 1/2 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft)

Wow, luff all the aviaries! and dis a good idea X3

Here is Akita's cage setup, its small and built good to size one bird and i find she is always quit confortable with it. here is some pics,
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j264/_Lace/AkitaCagesetup.jpg
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j264/_Lace/AkitacageCloseup.jpg

That yellowish dish n the outside, is a huge smilie face coffee cup that i fassened the side of the cage so she could crawl out and eat there, plus its big enough to catch most of the seed shells as well and takes a while for her to run out X3 i have her water, very close to the top of the cage to avoid from her getting it all a mess, and its also is a coffee mug, only its longer and plastic, it also keeps it so that she has water for a long while X3
She has a belll toy a bought her not long ago to replace here old bell, cus she luffs bells, and some other little home made htings as you can see i added on for her enjoyment X3 And yes, her cage is opened at all times, but because of her wings being clipped, she never comes out, only to eat, so it fits her well to have a open cage, she can sit on top like a good birdie and watch me and stuff, and she never strays from her cage, she is such a little sweetie.

mine has sand. its on a platform with wheels under the patio. most people that have permanent ones in the garden just have the lawn underneath

Amy, you were right, our budgies cages do look alike. Sky's cage is 18"L 12"W and 21" H. Your budgies cage is only 1" Longer, and 3" Higher than Sky's. So why does mine look so much smaller than yours??

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/angelbuck3/5450b442.png

Those aviaries look very nice. I don't have the room for anything like that. Maybe one day. I will keep my one budgie for now, will probably get more later on, might be at least 7 months to a year. I want to get Sky trained first, and used to us. Spoil him for a while. lol.

1st off I want to start with WOW!!! Great aviarys I just dream of having one someday! I just wanted to comment on paying for cages!! I've purchased this cage only for 12.00
http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l145/5shannon/th_IMG_9849.jpg (http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l145/5shannon/?action=view&current=IMG_9849.jpg&refPage=20&imgAnch=imgAnch27) I only payed 4 to 6.00 for the white cages
http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l145/5shannon/th_6178e223.jpg (http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l145/5shannon/?action=view&current=6178e223.jpg&refPage=20&imgAnch=imgAnch28) Yesterday I purchased a small cage for traveling with for only 2.00. All you need to do is look for local pet shops going out of business and handy down used stores. Thats how I purchased all my cages for. I always have my eye open for things like this when I'm driving around town also check you yelloe pages.

What is the material that is used for the wire sides of aviaries?

BUUZBEE
09-06-2006, 12:10 PM
we used what is called "cloth" or "wire" mesh
either 1/4 or 1/2 inch, i cant remember, sorry. smaller the better, lol
it can be found at home depot type stores

we washed it with vinegar, then used the power washer to rinse

there is no need posting in old threads, it only makes people think they're new. and if it isn't useful info for new comers, there really is no point in posting in old threads
