I had a question about the appearance of budgie beak. I have noticed Tiki has a white line on either side of his beak, kinda looks like a crack but not. I liken the appearance to a finger nail with a slight peel or like clear nail polish that peels off of the tip of the finger nail. Does that make sense? Tiki is very happy, engergic, eating, drinking all normal things. Beak is hard - not soft - so I wasn't sure if normal occurence or not. Today at pet store I noticed some 'keets with a similiar appearance. What do you think?
I notice it on a lot of mine too, i'm pretty sure it's normal...

Thanks a million Bea for the reply. I was looking on the internet to find comments to support what you say but a few other articles that got me very paranoid. Its so slight, not like a major crack, that I am fairly certain its typical. Tiki likes to grasp onto the side bars alot wedging his little beak so perhaps this too is a culprit in the white margins or flakes on his beak. Your the best, thanks again for a prompt reply!
Tiki sends kisses
I've been browsing through my thousands of photos trying to find a photo that shows what you're talking about but my budgies know how to puff up their cheek feathers.....hiding the flakey look! :p
Same here! Its perfectly normal!
My budgies have that. Nothing to worry about. :)
