HI, Every body! I want to hear your stories! Has anyone loss there birds to an accident? So many books and ect. say (Bird Proof Yor Home! Before letting bird out of cage!) Is'nt that a bit extreme or over doing it. When you can just use common sence! Oven door open close it. Candel buring, blow it out! Dont want bird in a certain room. Shut the door! Put other animals in other rooms. I have 5 birds never kept in the cage with the door down. I always have my blinds on my windows up to see out of. Only two of them had flown by it and ran into it. Lucky for me nothing happend, but birds are smart and do LEARN and KNOW there surroundings. I'll take my chances. So far so good! You cant control everything. Like the bird falling behind the t.v., computer, bunk bed, fridge, ect. I put my two cents in and even more! So I know your going to have yours put in also!:D

We can never be too prepared unforutnately...people discover new hazards for birds everyday in their homes. We can only do our best to bird proof our situation and go on with it.
when you take any animal out of its natural setting and put it in our unnatural homes there's bound to be consequences.
I lost my first budgie when she hit the wall flying at full speed. I had her clipped, and neglected to notice her feather's were grown back enough...she took off startled and broke her neck hitting the wall. I was new at birds but even a seasoned bird person could have this happen.
I think this is a great TOPIC:
I lost mt budgie one day I brought him downstairs and the door had been left open by my brother and when I opened the cage to take my tame budgie "Ably" out "Skylar" took of and went out the door.I went after him and he flew over a car factory and across a forest and I never seen him after that:( Poor guy hope he had a nice life with me I dint think he survived:(
I have lost 3 budgies before, I left the door open when cleaning Bobby out, he flew away. And after leaving Dusty and Misty outside in their cage on the table, a cat came, they were gone when we ot back, we never leave Budgies outside unsupervised.
This is a good topic to let people be aware of dangers around. We need to be aware of ALL of them.
