Lifespan of budgies with tumors

For those of you who lost budgies due to tumors, how long did they last after signs of being sick?

I had two yellow budgies who developed tumors which prevented them from flying at a later age. The oldest died at 16 years of age and I believe the last two were with the tumor. He was full of energy, ate well and we had him out daily to run around on the floor. The other birds would come down and play with him. The other bird was similar...she was a bit more frail since the tumor laid on a nerve which crippled her one foot. she would keep up with the other birds and she was so sweet. She was also with the tumor approx 2 years and died at 12 years old. both birds appeared to get along fine and I took them into the vet for check-ups and other than the tumor which we were not having removed...they got along quite well and ran around with the other birds daily.

It really depends splitz. How long has the budgie had the tumor? And the main factor is, what type of tumor is it??

As has already been mentioned, it really depends on the kind of tumour, also where it is and whether or not it is fast growing.

Sometimes with external tumours, the budgie doesn't die from the tumour per say, but rather from the blood loss that may result from picking at it. With internal tumours, they are much harder to monitor usually as they cannot be seen unless they are large enough to cause protruding. If the tumour is very close to the digestive tract or respiratory pathways for example, a budgie is not likely to live as long since blockage becomes a key factor.

I have had two budgies with tumours and both times, it has been a stressful experience as there is not usually much that can be done to treat them. Some tumours are operable, others are not, or would be too risky. They are unfortunately a common occurrence in budgies too. :(
