View Full Version : How Big Of Cage Do I Need For 4 Budgies?

Do you think this is a big enough cage for 4 birds? I have 2 now and I feel it is a bit cramped because they wont go anywhere but around the top of the cage. I have a big tree branch in there now for them to jump around on but they dont, so just wondering if its a good cage, and how many birds could I comfortably house in it? :budgie:

That cage there looks pretty good. Birds naturally go to the top but I think that birds really wouldnt mind it. BUT if none of them are able to come out of the cage much (less than once every other day). Mabye a bigger cage would be better. Hope this helps

bird cages are always best longer than wider or equial, for instance this is the cage my two share;

yeah, i agree with monsoon, longer is better. your cage looks big, but i cant tell the dimensions so its hard for me to say if that would be good enough for 4 but it seems fairly big. the only concern i really have is the size of the bar spacing of the cage. if it is over 1/2 an inch, your budgies may get hurt if they get their head stuck through or something.
-o, and budgies always go as high as they can in a cage which is why longer is better. since they dont really use all that real-estate at the bottom much. if you got a longer and shorter cage, the top would be spacious so they would move around more. this is the main reason lnoger is better.

Also they will only perch as high as the highest perch.

I would also say longer si better but THAT CAGE WOUlD WORK FINE at least in taht cage they could fly up in some long cages soem people cram it so full of toys and garbage the bird cannot even spread its own wings!:( That cage is awsoem I would love to have taht for my budgies!!!
Nice cage Claire! Good size for 2 budgies!
CarolynB73, Your cage looks great! You could just about have 4 in there comfortably. Please keep us updated!

Well i'm 5'3 and its over my head so its probably over 4 feet without the legs and its width is as long as my arm, I just wanted my budgies to have lots of room to play comfortably in
Great size, they'll love it!

I'm still looking for a bigger one tho - even tho my two spend every moment i'm home out playing the door only gets shut at night or when i'm at work, but their out before i go to work for a few hours and all evening.

The cage is a decent size, just make sure you have a place for tham to rest.

I think that your cage would fit 4 budgies nicely but make sure you have a lot of perches but dont over crowd the place....
and monsoon...i think your cage is really good, and i LOVE your rainbow keet.. ( as
i was looking at your post with the babies and parents...and i thoought all your keets are beautiful!!!):p

I was thinking, If u could some how twist this cage sideways it would fit more than 4, but of course the problem is the pullout tray at the bottom. Maybe adapt it a bit.
Actually this is a pretty silly idea of mine. I think it would fit 4 just the way it is!

Well I have a huge apple tree branch and other perches for them to jump around on. Mom also hung a wire across the top inside so I can hang there toys and swings on.
I also got a third budgie named Charlie, but Gabe keep biting at Charlie and pulling out his feathers, he's only little and very timid, anyone knows how long before they get used to each other, and how long it takes a budgie to calm down and not be scared. He was owned before and he's about 6 months old.:budgie:

That cage was a great size, although i prefer wider ones.
