I am making a fantastic, enornous jungle gym for my budgies using natural branches etc. WHat I want to know is what kind of glue should I use to glue the branches together. Obviously, I will buy a non-toxic, but is there a p[articular brand that might be best?
I've never built a gym, so I'm not sure what brands are recommended, but I'm assuming any non-toxic glue should be good. Just don't use super glue. Also, if you local bird store sells glue, you should buy that so you know it's bird-safe. :)

Thanks for the info. So far we have managed with hair rubberbands. Those seem to work too for now!!!!:)

Whatever works. :) I hope your budgies enjoy their new gym! :D
Most shop brought gyms come with childrens craft glue to assemble the gym so i'd say that'd be fairly safe.:) just be sure that no glue is exposed so that the budgies can't chew at it.
I have built a fantastic bird gym for Gus (my litle fella) and i went out and collected a whole heap of bottlebrush and cut the lengths i needed using secateurs, then i pre drilled everything i needed to join and screwed everything together. He loves it it has several levels a swing and many hanging toys. i also drilled a few holes here and there so i can take the odd cutting of eucalyptus or bottlebrush leaves and nuts for him to chew. It is all mounted to a plywood base with a pine border around the edge to stop all of those rolling toys falling off. all natural and native no glue.
PVA glue is animal safe so I would reccomend that.

Well, what I ended up doing was taking a huge planter and sticking the thickest branches at the bottom. These are manzanita (SP?) branches that I actually collected close to the Sierra mountains while on vacation. Otherwise they cost about 7-8 bucks a branch! Then I bought 2 different sizes of rope and strung it from branch to branch. They REALLY enjoy the ropes a lot act like acrobats on them. it's really cool. Then I added all the toys, glued a ketchup plastic cup to the rope with a glue gun that holds seed, and put brocolli, veggies etc on th eends of the branches. It really looks liike a tree with no leaves and lots of rope. I will try to post a good pic of the gym. They like their gym much better than their cage. It looks a little crazy, but don't tell them that! :)

Oh and I just used a standard glue gun with non toxic glue and rubberbands can really hold together branches just fine.

That is the most innovative play gym I have ever seen! I like how you used both wood perches and rope perches. Even better is the fact that you've got toys hanging on it too! Great job with the play gym! :D
I used tacks to hold mine together.
