Budgies won't breed!

Hi

We are Karen and Andy.

We will introduce ourselves and our budgies with pics in our next post but right now we have an urgent request.

We have a pair of budgies Zena and Arnold. Zena is 9 months old and Arnold about 18 months old. Zena was purchased in December last year and was completely tame within a few days. Arnold was purchased from the same breeder 6 months ago but is not tame at all. They have formed a good bond and fly around our home freely everyday. They are both healthy and seem very happy ...................but.

Zena henpecks Arnold most of the time. So much so that he seems totally disinterested in mating, although they do kiss and he does protect her when she seems distrested in any way. We made them a nest box...............still no interest. We have taken their toys away..............still no interest..................she chases him around but he does'nt want to know.

Can anyone suggest what we should do if anything?

A) she is to young. she should be at lease a year
B) if the male doesn't like the next box why would she and may be he doesn't feel its safe
