What time of day would Lily lay the eggs?

Night? Evening? Afternoon? Midday? Midnight? Morning?

Please help me!:D

According to the Hamilton & District Budgerigar & Cage Bird Society, budgies usually lay their eggs in the afternoon. However, I know that when my little Skyla laid eggs (infertile ones), they were laid in the early evening.

well i am new here but ive done a lot of research on breeding parakeets (since september ) and one arcticle said they lay around mid day......also i need help because i know a lot about sighns of mating and all but ok from 6 in the morning to 6:30, polly went in the nestingbox 5 times atleast with tiki watching her. I wanted to mate him with my rare greywing mika but he didnt have much interest in her so now one of tiki and polly's boys could be her mate. if anyone can help me then plz......also they are groomning feeding each other , tiki is trying to preen her tail feathers and he many times tried to step on her tail. :budgie: :budgie: :budgie:

I usually check my boxes first thing in the morning and then about mid-afternoon. I think most eggs are laid in the early afternoon but I've had exceptions to that. I guess it depends on the bird........... I try to get them as soon as they are laid so I can number them.

Why do you number the eggs?

Because then you can keep track of which egg is supposed to hatch on the specific dates. You also know then not to give up cause an egg doesn't hatch. It could go like 1 hatches, 2 is a dud but 3 hatches. There would then be 4 days between the babies.

Good Idea, I'm going to do that.

I have a budgie egg hatching chart I'd be happy to send to anyone who would like one. Just email me.

I number the eggs on the ENDS with a super-soft (#2 or softer) pencil. It takes a very light touch. Do not number the "front" of an egg as it is very easy to puncture it plus the numbers will wear off easily. Especially if the point of the pencil is sharp. This takes a little practice but it works.

I'll practise on something delicate.
