An Advertisement Contest


You have been tasked with developing a poster to advertise Talk Budgies, with the goal of enticing budgie owners all over the world to want to join the forums. Use your creativity and finesse to put together your poster about us and what we have to offer prospective members.

In your poster, be sure to include the name of the forum (Talk Budgies) and the website address (www.talkbudgies.com) (http://www.talkbudgies.com%29/). The rest is up to you!

Contest Rules:
You are strongly encouraged to use your own photos in producing your final product
If you choose to use someone else’s photos, you must get permission from them first
Give credit to the person whose photos you have used, including credit to yourself if you used your own, and ensure this credit is visible in your final product
Your poster must print on a standard 8.5" x 11" piece of paper (landscape or portrait is accepted)Submit your entry to budgiekin@talkbudgies.com by April 1, 2008.

Only one entry per member please. The winning entrant will receive 300 Karma points and bragging rights. At the discretion of the forum staff, this poster may also be made available for forum members to print and post in local pet shops or vet clinics if anyone wishes to do so in their area.

The entries will be kept private, at least until the closing of the contest. After that time, it has not been decided as of yet whether or not we will release all of the entries.

ok I meant to ask this with my 1st post but forgot

is this poster supposed to be done by hand then scanned and put on to the computer to be put on here

or can it be done using a computer program? or does it matter

I think Budgiekins told me while we were talkking about it that it didn't matter. I'm not 100% sure though. But it is probably better to do it on the computer. Alot easier.

You can do it either way. Just keep in mind that we might decide to release the winning entry for everyone to print and hang up at bird/pet stores, with the stores' permission.

As long as the entry is printable on a standard sheet of paper, that is all that matters. In other words, if you would prefer to actually sketch it by hand with pen and paper and then scan it in, that is fine. Of course, creating it on the computer is an option too. ;)

Keep in mind that the final product must be of good enough quality to print. If an entry does not print at a decent resolution on a standard sheet of paper, then it will not really work if it is to be distributed to local pet shops and vet clinics.

Normal depends on where you live. A4 is common in European countries but the 8 1/2" x 11" is standard in North America. Can't speak for elsewhere.

Entries are due by April 1st. That essentially gives everyone a month to produce their poster. ;)

How many colours are allowed? And in what format would you like the final piece to be submitted (PDF, JPG, etc...)?

Use your own judgement when it comes to colours. You can submit in just about any format, although PDF would really make it easy for me. I would also accept .jpg, .psd, .png.....
