I don't have my parakeet yet. I had wanted to get a hand fed one from a breeder, however there are three young ones I have my eye on at the pet store! One is a grey or cinnamon wing green, one is a grey wing blue, and my favorite is (i think) type 2 yellowface sky blue grey wing, shew! I'm not completely sure on those.. but that should paint a pretty picture :)
Anyway I have been busy making toys and came across a website that really inspired me for designs, I hope others find it useful if you haven't come across it yet.
it is www.tntbirdtoys.com
I'll try to post some pics of mine once I make a couple more. I have ideas in my head but couldn't find small wiffle balls or wicker balls that I know walmart used to carry, but do not now! darn it.
Oh, has anyone seen chinese finger traps? looks like these are used on their toys as well.

Your link is not working because you have to have 10 posts before you can post links so I'm posting it for you here.:)

Oh, I found the wiffle balls at walmart- I didn't know to look in the golf supplies! I was looking at softball/kids toys. Can't wait to start with these :)
I'll just edit this post and add some pics.
Making bird toys requires close supervision:

Your doing a great job making toys they look fun!! You've given me motivation..
I would still be very cautious of leaving your soon to be budgie alone with paper clips? A leg could get caught so easy and break it in a panic. You'd be surprised what budgies can get caught in.
You can purchase parts at bird websites, WindyCityParrot (http://www.windycityparrot.com/page/Windycityparrot/CTGY/ParrotToyParts) and Bird Supply of New Hampshire (http://www.birdsupplynh.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23_93&osCsid=c) carry a bunch of toy parts including the pear links and quick links.
Great job with the your creative toys!!

thanks! I will ditch the paper clips. Only one toy in the cage has a paper clip right now, so i'll just tie it to the bars until I get something else.
Unfortunately she isn't playing with any of them! at least not yet... I hope she plays with them eventually, I have lots of toy making supplies haha.
