Yesterday my b/f told me to check out their nest box ( they've been set up for about 2 weeks maybe a bit longer) and she'd kicked out ALL the care fresh bedding we put in, now i knew she'd kicked out some because well it was at the bottom of the cage right under the nest box entrance, so I saw it every time I fed/watered and cleaned the cage, but it didn't dawn on me she'd kicked it all out until he pointed it out to me
well last night I went to bed last ( early but last) as soon as i laid down i heard the birds chirping, dawned on me my b/f who normally puts them to bed had been asleep for about an hour so the birds were still up lights on and all that good stuff *he's been sick and going to bed early but normally gets up around 11 or so to put them to bed) so i got up and walked to the birds room was looking around making sure every one was where they were supposed to be (mainly our quaker - needed to make sure he was in his cage and not some one else's, he's okay during the day w/ the other birds but I didn't want to take a chance of him not finding his way back to his cage but I caught Jasmine and Tweety doing' their business for the 1st time and oddly enough he's the 1st bird of ours I've seen actually do it CORRECTLY LOL) so i shut the light out and went to bed
we went to check on our tiels eggs because tomorrow is supposed to be a hatch date for an egg, and he decided to check their box and There's an EGG!
so I guess not only do Tweety and Jasmine do their 'business' the right way, but they also do it privately (well most of the time) like they should LOL
SO this will be my 3rd pair of budgies who's mated , and if the egg(s) are fertile and when they hatch they'll be our 3rd pair that successfully mated
I'll try to get pictures of thier egg tomorrow
- Should I put any more care fresh bedding in? she has laid the egg on the concave part of the floor of the nest box, and she was the one who took all the bedding out I know some don't like any in thier boxes and some like a little bit should i leave it the way she's made it?
I got so excited and hit Submit BEFORE i added thier pics - my bad here we go .. LOL
here is Jasmine (the mom) - Any one got a clue on her Mutation? I know she's a cinnoman wing

and Here is Tweety(the daddy) he's a Dominate Blue Pied Clear Wing

Aww thanks :o
i've always been an animal lover :) Started out with a bunch( and i do mean a bunch lol) of cats, dogs and rabbits
thank you all, no one has really been sure of Jasmines mutation but i need to fiqure it out for the records ( we have pedigree papers instead of hatch certificats, well in a way they're the same thing i reckon lol and It has a spot for the parents mutations so i gotta fiqure out what she is

Congrats on the beautiful little eggie! As for Jasmine's mutation...yes, she is definately a cinnamon. She's also a Yellowface type 1, and a Sky Blue. So I guess that would make her a Yellowface type 1 Sky Blue Cinnamon lol.

Something the camera doesn't show well is She has purple in her too
it makes it look like she's wearing a "V" neck shirt it comes down the bluish color to the V then under it down to the bottom it's purple the purple on her belly, feet area is darker then her pretty little purple cheek patches

as long as they're both healthy thats all i care about

Thanks
I still don't understand why they hatched on the same day, Ive never heard of such a thing, but my other pair she had 2 eggs one after another, instead of one every other day she had one on one day and one on the next day, but they hatched as if they were laid every other day
I think my birds just like keeping me confused lol

When the mother doesn't start sitting on her eggs right away, sometimes they wait until they have more than one egg, then the hatch date will be postponed to 18 days after the hen starts sitting on eggs... So if there was 2 eggs when she starts sitting, chances are those two will hatch closer together... ie: same day or only one day apart even though the eggs were laid differently.

she was sitting on them from day one, I've gotten lucky and all my birds sit on the egg from the very 1st one

You must have smart hens!! :) It might also be related to the age and/or experience of the hens... But like you said, as long as they are healthy!! :D

I thought it was pretty awesome of them as well, since i know none of them have done the parent hood before because all but one came from a pet shop, the other one came from a bird fair (breeder)
even my cockatiel who had eggs ( i don't know if she's ever had any before or not though i got her through Pet finder) laid on the egg the very 1st day

Baby 1 & 2 were born on the same day (march 17th) both are Pied (u can see it on thier lil heads), baby 2's pied marking is yellow like it's wings and looks like it's going to have a yellow face (like mamma)
the quailty of the pics aren't the greatest , but I was in a hurry, didn't wanna stress mom and dad out too much so I was snapping pics quickly.
