We have recently started dabbling in the art of making our own budgie toy's after seeing a lot of excellent home made toy's on the forum's here and also not being overly impressed with the toy's that are available at the pet store's.

Some of the one's we got inspiration from are below:

These are great if you are considering making a play gym at all

If I get my act together I will post some picture's of the toy's my other half and I have been making (he is just as interested in bird's and toy's and thing's as I am now......it's GREAT! :D ) The one's we have made are NO WHERE near as great as the one's on the forum though.

We wish you well in your DIY toy adventures and would LOVE to see photo's of before/during/after/in use toy's!!

Okay so here are some photo's of our bird toy's so far, these are two of the one's that I have made to date with Speedy playing with them :) she approves!

The first is just the swing, which is the very first that I made, then speedy playing with it, and speedy chewing on it :)
The second was not planned, it just came about, but it works! :D

My bird's favorite toy I made from twine (sisel or cotton would work), pony beads, a large hard plastic button, and balsam wood. I cut the balsam wood into pieces with sissors, and then dyed it with food dye. Then I tied the button on the bottom, and alternated balsam and pony beads to the top. My birdie likes to chew on the balsam wood.

If you can't picture it, remind me and I'll take a picture. My camera battery is charging.

Here are some more toy's that we made :D

The first was just a trial to see what sort of a perch type thing I could make and if they would use it, and it is surprisingly good, I just clip it from Speedy's door to her cage or between the two parts of the top of her cage that open up and she chills out on it ;)

The second is something for her to sink her beak into and chew the crap out of and make a racket with

The next is one that Nathan made equivilant of my last one, and the last is a few toy's that sarge had semi destroyed that Nathan combined to make a kind of super toy that Sarge still really enjoy's! :party10:

There is an awesome demountable fort that Nathan has also made I will post photo's of that later though, as I said before these toy's are no where near what we have seen on here so far, but the kid's love them so much and they take two seconds to make!

I have to admit the toy mine seem to enjoy playing with the most are the beads strung onto a peice of string and hung from the cage

nothing big or extravcant, nothing fancy just beads hanging, they love to nibble on the string along with the beads

i bought a big tub of beads at my local craft store ( i think its a 1 pnd or 3 pnd tub) for like 2.99 back in May and i still have it and its still pretty full and i've used ALOT of bead s LOL
