How I became a budgie owner :)

When I was 14-15 years old, I had some fish (3 tanks of fish!!! lol) I wasn't thinking of having a bird -or lets say a budgie.. one evening I was in my room listening to music I heard my mother's voice calling at me from the kitchen "come come there is something in the kitchen balcony!!" I went there and saw a yellow budgie in the balcony door! she was there! my first budgie!!! it was obvious that she had escaped from a house because she was somewhat tamed, she came to my hand, next day we found a cage and she began to live with us. I was very excited about owning a bird but I thought to myself like this; "I wish she was a blue, baby, boy (am I asking too much :D) but anyway I will love her too and I will take care of her too".. so I got some budgie books and read began to learn about them, I was carefully loving and taking care of her.

But she was eating too much and she really liked honey flavoured millet sticks. she used to finish one stick a day! unfortunately she got ill because of that stupid sticks (today I still hate them) she passed away 5 -6 months later, that day I can never forget in my life... I was crying and phoned to my father and told my bird had passed away he said he would get me another one I said no I dont want another one closed the phone. at the evening I was calmed with puffed eyes then my father came. he had a cage, inside the cage there was a blue, baby boy budgie!!! I couldnt believe in my eyes.

He said one of his friend was walking on the street then something stepped to his shoulder, he was shocked and took him to my fathers office (my father is famous of his birds among his friends), his friend had told him that he would take the bird in a couple of days and went. later on I phoned to father without knowing this.. I dont believe in coincidences but what is this? :D

He was a tamed bird, I got him out of his cage and we played for hours and hours. he was a baby, but he was saying a word like "flower" obviously he was escaped from his house, :budge: his body blue, head was white and dirty and he got very little insects in his body. we disinfected his cage, he had a bath (he loved water very much) and we happly lived together for 9 years.

Like everygood thing must come to an end, by bird had passed in my hands because of oldness. I really miss him. He will always have a special place in my heart. :)

Awwww!! What a touching story! I like how you were introduced to the wonderful world of budgies! That was so sweet of your father to get you a blue budgie, just like you always wanted. It sounds like you really enjoyed having the little fellows when they were with you. They were lucky budgies to have such a caring owner! Thanks for sharing your great story!! :p

Wow, an interesting way to come into the world of budgies. I love the name of your current budgie! ' Pamuk' just rolls off the tongue. I like it!

What a beautiful story....I even got a little teary-eyed myself there.:( What kind of luck is that, to have those 2 babies just fall right into your lap like that. Seems like you are a budgie magnet...and rightly so hun.....you obviously know how to give a lot of love to these angels. They are very lucky indeed to have had you in their life.

From one Budgie Lover to Another....God Bless xx :budgie:
