I wanted good latches for my cage. I have two sliding food doors, and another one of the same sized doors inside a larger door. I need latches not just to prevent escape, but also to prevent little fingers from letting birds out.
I first tried the c-clip type, and that still allowed the door to open pretty wide. I also tried a bow shackle, and that didn't work either.
I did find stainless eye bolt snaps
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100165534&N=10000003+90401+502400
and they are hard to open, bt they work. But then I read you shouldn't use these because birds get their tongues caught. Surely they mean larger birds? I can't imagine a budgie opening this clip.
(and no, I didn't spend 10 bucks on mine. it was cheaper in the lowes store.)
So are these snaps out? And if so, what the heck do you use?
