i don't know what's wrong with bubbles she used to enjoy a little bath know and then but know when i get her near water she flys away. I know bathing is good for a budgie and i don't want her to get too dirty. How can i get her to stop fearing water? :S

My little budge hates baths so I just take him out, let him run around the floor or sit on my finger. I spray water with a clean water bottle into the air and it falls gently onto him. He actually has learned to like it and puts his head up like he's going to "sing in the rain". :D

All five of my budgies do not know how or want to take a bath! So I do the same as for the water bottel goes. They dont like it at first and fly around. Than they just get used to it after you keep spraying. I dont know if spraying water at them from a water bottel is good or not? I just remember my mom spraying our big parrot with a water bottel. But he liked it. Find out more resources before doing it.:D :budgie:

Spraying your budgie with a fine mist of water sounds like the best option for you. As long as you don't spray directly at them, but rather from above, then it should be fine. You can read your budgie's body language to tell you whether or not it's unpleasant. Just make sure the water bottle hasn't been used for anything but water....good luck and let us know how it goes if you decide to try misting your little sweetie!!:p

bathing isn't 100% necessary, although it certainly is better if you can offer a bath every so often. if your budgie doesn't want to jump into water, try turning on the faucet so it just has a light stream flow down and bring your budgie close. i have seen many who like this approach. they will move under the water, shake a bit, come out and repeat for a while until they are satisfied. just make sure the water isn't gushing out or freezing cold. don't force your budgie to go under the ware either, just have her in the palm of your hand near it and she'll move towards the water if she wants.

the water bottle trick works for some and not others, but if your budgie doesn't like it the first time, just offer it a few more times anyway. they may just be overly cautious of the new thing they are experiencing. you can't really tell how much a budgie likes something until after a few times when they have had a chance to make up their mind.

finally, another great way to give them a bath is to emulate their natural bathing habits - wet vegetation. get some big leaves from vegetables or greens that you might normally feed your budgie. put it in a bowl of water it down water (make sure both are at room temperature). some budgies just love jumping in with the greens and washing this way.

important thing is not to push it on them. what ever method you use, just give them a chance to decide on their own. encourage them a little, but never force. and always remember that just like humans, being wet and cold usually ends up in a sick birdie so things should be room temperature.

As Jayjay said, floating greens or your budgie's fave food may be the answer, if this doesn't help, like the others said, use a mist, not too fine though, as it may go up your budgies nose and they will choke ect.

Star hates water, unless she is drinking it.:p I used the mist on her and I think she enjoys it because she chirps happily everytime I spray her.
