What sort of travel cages/carriers does everyone use?
I'm going to need to buy/make on and I don't know what's best. I have a really small bird cage.. would that work?

Thanks!

Your small cage should work. I assume it is for going to the vet? I use something similar to this (http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=19301701201&Category_Code=cagestravel&Product_Count=13). I got mine at petsmart. You can also use a small cage. The travel cage I have has no room for food or water. But then it is just a short trip to the vet so going without shouldn't be a problem. I've used both the travel cage and a smaller cage. Be sure to place a seat belt over it. Hope that helps! :)

I use the exact same one Mindy uses! :) Yep- a small cage could definitely work, but I don't exactly know how easy it is to carry around! :) If you are just going to the vet, having no food or water in it is fine.

Budgieloveee, what I do with those travel cages is to cover it up with a hand towel going from the house to the car and from the car to the vet building. That way the birds are protected by the elements. But the hand towel fits like a glove with that travel cage!

You always want to cover whatever cage you use! Then when you are in the car you can uncover the front to talk to them. :)

Petsmart has loads of small cages for sale, which would be great. I also buy mine from second-hand stores or bird shows.

My group all uses Cabin Kennels with the wire tops, they are 17"L x 12"W x 8" H

These are airline approved as well.

I just use the boxes my keets came home in. As long as there are no swings or other toys in the cage that could hit the bird when the car stops, a small cage would be perfect. Use a seatbelt!
