My friends budgie seems to poo in his water dish everyday. There are usually around 5 or 6 droppings in there. Why does he do this and is there a way to stop him doing it?:budgie:

Is the water dish under a perch (could be dropping from there) or is it next to a perch (he could be sitting on a perch with his butt over the dish) or he could just like to sit on the dish with his tushy over the water. I don't think you can stop him from doing this, but you could try moving the dish or trying a covered dish.

I think hes most probably sitting on the dish with his little 'tushy' over the water. Will try and find a covered water dish from somewhere

My budgies do the same and than they bathe in it right when I put it inside the cage until there is no water left than I have to fill the water up again...they dont bathe it it this time they start to go to the bathroom!:mad: Little buggers than I cahnge it agin and they drink it so I change thier water 3 times a day..lol Its alot of work!

hahah, get a water bottle. the lixit ones are as good as they claim at not dripping after the vucumn forms. it will take a while for the bird to learn to use it so you'll still need the normal water source until it learns, but once it does, it will have much cleaner drinking water and you can just remove the other water source or leave it as a bird bath.

Yeah another thing I went out and bought them a bird bath and they nevr used it they want thier drinking water to taste like dirt after thier bath.
